This summer my husband had a heart attack and subsequent open heart surgery.  It was not the best time for our ARM to be running out.  We knew that our mortgage company could and probably would raise our interest rate 2%.  Bad timing, but we were suddenly in the market for a new mortgage, a necessary stress in an already stressful time.
